Ok, the post below this, I actually wrote yesterday about midday, but for some reason it didn’t publish right at the time. I just noticed it sitting around as a draft, and it seems to have posted ok now, so I don’t know what happened there. Never used a blog before, so teething problems I guess.

Yesterday at 2, myself, Matt and Kane went down to the harbourside to determine a route for the map. Steve couldn’t make it. We chose to go from the aquarium to the lighthouse, and the basic idea is that we each create the story whereby a person takes the route, but only uses one sense as they go. I have the sense of hearing, so my route will be full of sounds like the ocean waves, birds, boat masts knocking together, the wind and wind turbines outside the aquarium, leaves rolling along the ground, that sort of thing.

We’re each going to put some sort of visualisation for our individual, sense-driven stories on a large, A2 sheet. For sound, I’m thinking of some sort of wave pattern, as sound is normally shown in a piece of computer software. Maybe it’ll move around in different directions to show the physical route of the walk, and obviously change its size depending on the volume or type of sounds, along the way. I won’t be in Plymouth over the weekend, but I’m going to take my workbook with me, and hopefully be able to go back to the harbourside on monday for more inspiration. Currently, we have wednesday planned to get together and start making the map. So far so good, basically.
